I am directed by the Lord Lieutenant to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 28th. Ultimo enclosing copy of despatch from the Officer Administering the Government of Hong Kong, and to state for the information of Mr. Secretary Chamber- lain that Mr. T.A.Howe will not be paid any salary from the
Royal Irish Constabulary Vote during the period of his return
journey to Ireland.
I am to add that His Excellency has heard, with much
pleasure, of the satisfactory manner in which Mr. Howe has dis-
charged his duties while employed in Hong Kong.
